urw tho bridegroom of today emi d
SS7 motor to get here, nnd probably
Sm. and the bridegroom of Monday Is
SiheV dinner on Thursday night, so
they'll be there.
The weddings to which I nm referring
,re l'Aullne Dcnckla's, to Lo Orand
Cannon (I do so want to say "Can
inn " don't you?) That will tnke nlare
tWaftcrnoon at the Church of the Holy
. Trinity. Nineteenth and Walnut streets,
nnd the other wedding that of Roddy
Tower, son of the Charlemagne Towers,
of this city, nnd Klorn Wliltnoydniigh.
of the' Harry Payne Whltncys of
New York, whtch marriage will tnko
nlnce on Monday nt St. Hnrtholomcw's
fch.irch. In New York.
There will be a great many New
Yorkers here today for the nenekla
vMine. I-e Ornnd Is the son of Mrs.
Theodore Kreyllngheysen. His father,
who was II. Lo Orand Cannon, died
nine vcars ago, nnd his mother married
Mr frcjllngheygen some years Inter.
Pauline, with her Philadelphia back
ground of old and lending families, will
be an actiiilsltlon to New ork, I'll say.
Her mother was one of the five benutlful
Tyson girls, whose mother In turn was
MIm Htitnrt. n sister of the Into Mrs.
Stuart Patterson. Mrs. Denckla's eld
est sister married Mr. Percy Drayton.
Anl..r nUter Is the widow of Mr.
Brentwood Smith. The ltev. Stuart
Traon Is an uncle of Pauline's.
HAVfi you heard about the pageant
that Mrs. Otis Skinner Is getting
up In connection with the Devon Horso
Show nnd Country Fair pn Monday eve
Inc May .11. which this year will be
Decoration Day? (The date is always
Slay 30, you remember, but as It falls on
Sundav this yaiV the holiday will be
May 31.) Mrs. Skinner hnH such artis
tic s"nc that anything she undertakes
is always successful, I rind. You remem
ber she planned tho pageant they had nt
the Indoor Show nt the First City Troop
Armory some years ago. Tha was a
benutlful thing.
Mrs. Archibald Rnrklie is home from
the West now. nnd la hard nt work with
all her plans for the show, because you
know it is only five weeks off now. nnd
there will be the Indoor Show first nnd
the Pony Show out at Mrs, Clothier's.
TIinilK is one thing I really want
to do out nt the Devon show, and
that Is vote for tho next President.
You sec they nre going to have n straw
vote, nnd you can choose your favorite
candidate for Presideut. The real
picking of a candidate will be going on
then, nnd so it will be uppermost in our
minds. And Aince it seems positive the
women will not have any voto hero, nt
least for the next election, wo might as
well have a try at It and sec how many
different ones we will jilcV1 on that day.
It will differ from other elections, too,
In that no one will be able to sell his
vote, but every one will have to buy
one, nnd what Is more pny ten whole
cents for it. Thnt'fl some Idea, Isn't it?
I SUPPOSE I nm clothes crazy VUpbc
days, but I keep looking nt the
tilings people have on, aud in nt store
windows, and somehow this time of
' year I certainly do keep my attention
turned to clothes. I saw tho CouuteNi
George Glnoux do Fcrmon on Chestnut
street tho other day In a smart -looking
toque of black trimmed with nn out
standing fenther fancy. She wore a
long fur coat over a silk frock.
She is staying K.th her aunt, Mrs.
Trnvis Cochran, at her Twenty-second
street home for several months. The
late Mr. Travis Cochran was n
brother of the countess's fnther, tho
lato Mr. George Cochran, who died
shortly after his daughter was married
to the French count.
AND talking of clothes, hnvo you
seen the new capes that are helne
worn this snrlnir? Mnrlnnnn O'Wlll
' nd one at the Stokes-Ilrooke wedding Philmlclphia Country Club.
v.. ,, cuui'nuuj , nuin wus iu iniin-
colorcd cloth. There Is a bins piece
edged with a thick corded seam about
the neck and which buttons over the
breast, and theu a wide full pleeo of
cloth edged with a stole collar set on as
a straight piece. 1Kb over that and
wraps about the figure. It sounds com
plicated, but is really very simple aud
very good looking. Mrs. O'Neill's hnt
was a big droopy one of figured geor
gette crepe edged with a fold of dark
blue.
fJlHEY were having a card party, and
one of the women who was to go to
it telephoned nbout a half hour before
the time set to say that her nurse had
Mt her, bag and baggage, and she
Mmply could not leave Tommy at home
by himself. For be It known, snld
Tommy Is only three years of age.
Well, the, hostess told her she "Just
had to come" nnd to bring Tommy
along with her. She did. and Tommy
wns an angel all afternoon. Sat on the
floor and played with his blocks and
never Interrupted nor Interfered In nny
way. After the cords there was tea,
and Tommy was given his pink Ice
cream before any one, because he had
been so good.
When time came to go homo, while
his mother was upstairs putting on her
cloak, the small man advanced to the
hostess and snld, "Mrs. T , I had a
hootlful time!"
Then he made a flying dash for the
opening in the banisters nnd looking
Jip to where lift thought his mother must
be. he called In stentorian tones-,
'Miner, I taid It to her."
