The total payroll amounted to $1,13.1,503.7.1. It is estimated that about '.$145,000 of that amount was extra back salary due through the oper ation of the new schedule, William Dick, secretary of the board, said yesterday if it hod not been for the assistance of many teachers who volun teered their services the payroll would not yet be ready. "I certainly want to thank nil those," he snld, "who gave up their Kaster vacution and came here each day to help us in the extremely difficult task of adjusting the new pay roll. It fs due to their help thnt we were able to get the checks out on time."
