Two Overcome by Gas In U. S. Mint
Fire In Serious Condition
As a result of tho explosion of a gas
meter, which caused a fire yesterday at
the United States Mint, Sixteenth and
Spring Garden streets, two firemen are
in mo naiincmann noapuui in u benous
condition.
They are Gcorgo Cottrcll and William
Williams, of Hook and Ladder Com
pany No. 17. Both wero overcome by
gas when they entered tho basement of
tho building. They were rescued by
several other firemen.
