Market for Asphalt Shares Again Found Very Thin Evidence
of Increasing Caution
The Qenernl Asphalt shnrrs 'were
again the soft spotB of the local market,
although the general list showed au In
clinntinti to yield. Trading was fairly
active, and somewhat better distributed'
than in the recent sessions because of
'the conspicuous absence of specializing.,
The maruet, as a whole, was under

In New York,
Hfforts to renlize on accrued paper
profits ngnin revealed nn nstonlshingly
thin market for tjic Asphalt issues. On
less than -100 shares the common suf
fered a further tumble of $5 to 123,
representing a net decline of $15 from
the high record made enrller in the
week. Offering of loss than 100 shares
carried the preferred down $11.2," to
184, which is $24.50 under the top
notch made, a few days ngo.
In the Inte rally the common went to
12N and the preferred to 100,
Further attempts were made to asso

aganda, however, fell upou deaf cnH
today, as it is almost next to impos

tho stock that apears to have struck
the sliding bonrd. There nrc still many

that were caught on the .crest of th

Fresh selling pressure developed in
U. G. I., depressing the price to a new
low level at 03. This celling s a
puzzlo to some extent, inasmuch as the
present dividend appears to be entirely

The trading in the nthen. locals was
of familiar desultory character and. re

prices.- There seemed to be more dis--'
position to move cautiously and awoit
developments rather than to sacrifice
current holdings at going prices.
