I. Clothier, will make her bow to
hochtr this afternoon at tho Clothier
place, Olalremont, Vlllanora, nt a tea

Dorothy Ely, Antoinette Oeyclln, Elea

Thayer, Anno Tbwnscnd, Juliana
Baker and Martha Baker.
Emily is n sister of Lydla and Dorothy

TID you know that Edith Glllingbam
has, sailed for homo, after n straight
May of two years on tho ether side?
Tea, she has been thero steadily for two
years, having spent a year at the
Duryea relief in Paris and -when our
men began to go over In great numbers
nd since the armistico sho has been
working in the various soldiers' and
Bailors' clubs of the Emergency Aid of
this city in Paris.
And Edith has raised quite a largo
amount of money through letters of np
pcal, which she has sent to, her mother,
Mrs. Harold Qlllingham, who has told
of tho needs there and has been able to
send her several thousand dollars In this
way for the Duryea war relief. And
just Imagine it, $10,000 for tho tubercu
lar ward of tho -Villcmin Hospital in
Paris for sick and returned poilus.
iSho also was atilo to collect money
and clothes and food for tho poor, and
I heard only tho other day that sho had
been, recommended for the "Mcdalllo
des lcconnalsanccs des Francals." She
sailed for home on Monday and it will
certainly be delightful to seo her once
more. , Don't you think she is awfully
pretty? "I do.
THE death of Mrs. William B.
Churchman came as n great shock
to her family and friends. Only on
Monday she was in town with little
Kathcriuc Snowden, her granddaughter,
and did not seem at all ill in the early
evening. Sho was staying with her
daughter, Mrs. John W. Converse, out
tin nosemont, and Bill Churchman
fivife, who was Beatrice Gcycljn, is
(here, too, with her children; so, with
tlio exception of her son, who is in
Cuba, her children and grandchildren
ere all in the houso when she died,
quite suddenly, at 2 o'clock in the
morning.
She was Miss Katherinc Maison, a
sister of tho late Mrs. Samuel Mills,
of this city, and is survived by nnothcr
Mister, Mrs. M. D. Kuhn, of 'London.
Her husband, tho late Willinm Church
inan, died about eight years ago. He
was a brother of the lato Charles
Churchman, who married Miss Ancie
Wharton. Sirs. Churchman had two
children.- Sirs. Converse, who was
Bertha Churchman and whoso first hus
band was the late Charlie Snowden,
married John W. Converse about a year
and a half ago. William B. Church
man, as I said, married Miss Geyelin
and has lived in Morristown until the
last year. Last winter was spent with
Mrs. Churchman at her home, 333
South Twenty-first street.
Mrs. Churchman was a great fncnrl
of Mrs. Alexander JJrinton Coxc and
spent much time visiting her in Bar
Harbor, and last week was her guest
in Atlantic City. As BUI is In Cuba,
tho family will wait to hear from him
before making final arrangements for
the funeral.
T SAW Edith Carpenter yesterday in
a stunniDg blue serge dress with a
sand-colored silk facing to the sash and
collar. She had gunmctal buttons on
the sleeves and wore a dark-bluo mush
room-shaped hat with a wreath of
flowers around tho crown. She looked
so smart it was a pleasure to watch
her.
Edith is the ' debutanto daughter of
Mrs. Samuel Emlcn Carpenter.
LOUISE is not very old, but she is
growing older each day, you know,
and a very sweet lady whose ward
bhe 'is, is taking very great care that
she learn all the proprieties as sho
grows upr The other day in endeav
oring to instill a nice sense of personal
cleanliness, she said, "Hemembcr,
Louise, we can't all be beautiful, but
i wo can all be well-groomed. Xou know
"vvhat-I mean by that, don't you?"
"Oh, yes, Mrs. D ," was Louise's
naive reply, "you mean we can all get
good husbands."
