Die stock nnnarentlv was offered at n
fine when the market was bare of buy
ing orders, and, taking advantage of the
opportunity, the price was offered down
n low oh possible. The Hollinp; pressure
liKuppeared (tiickly nnd the stock ral
lied to 07.
Outilde of this incident the tradine
wns listless, in truth the narrowing of
tne market was even more nculc than
observed In the previous sessions. The
tone altogether was inclined to heavi
ness. This. lioever, resulted more
from sheer lack of interest than pres
sure to tell. The character of the trad
ing suggested continued caution, which
was to be altogether expected in view of
the growing uncertainty of the labor
situation and the increasing irregularity
of the larger market.
The narrowness of. the market was
strongly exemplified in the movement of
both Klectric Storage Battery and Gen
et al Asphalt. Light offerings of the
former carried the price down more than
S2 to 107 Js. nut the stock as heretofore
was quietly absorbed. In General 4s
phalt preferred ?2 wns also clipped off
on a sale of a few shares.
Price variations in the bnlance of the
local stocks were circumscribed within
the same familiar fractional limits.
Minor advances w.crc scored by 4nirr-
iean Stores nnd Lake Superior, while
slight recessions were registered in
American flhlp, rhlladelphln Electric,

Greater Safety
Higher Yield
Investment sentiment may
change and affect market values,
but there is no logical reason for
the comparatively low prices of
certain securities. Discriminating
investors can, without doubt, get
a higher yield from money well
invested than would seem possi
ble to those not familiar with
present financial conditions.
