TFS"?

vantage of the great
increase m business,

it advisable to place
on the market during
the past few weeks
bonds, notes and
stocks that have
proved to be most at
tractive to investors.
The income from these
securities is consider
ably better than that
to which we were ac
customed in pre-war
times. '

Chicago, Aug. 15. There was no
noticeable improvement in outside sup
port in the corn mnrket here today and,
after covering by shorts and good buy
ing by commission houses had brought
about rallies from early low levels,
prices again receded.
Knrly in the session the undertone
was weaker on a continuation of the)
recent selling movement, helped along
bv further severe losses in hogs, favor
able weather in the belt, additional de
dines in foreign exchange and softness
iu the position of the cash article.
I,atr, bears were inclined to act more
rautiouslv and accept profits believing
that the decline had been drastic enough,
but offerings on every upturn were free
and the gains could not be maintained
because the buying power gave out.
Traders were very nervous.
Western country offerings showed a.
fnlling off, but farmers In Texas, where
the crop is unusually large, were dis
posed to send their holdings forward
liberally.
Oats were firm most hf the session,
showing only occasional recessions in
sympathy with corn. There was good
buving by commission houses on all set
backs, concerns with eastern connec
tions being prominent.
A prominent local short wns thought
to have covered. Local interests sup
plied the offerings. The cash article
was easier.
