High Points in Today's Financial Nctvs
The trencl of prices on the New Yolk exchange was toward higher
prices with rails and, industrials showing special strength. The local
market showed a fair degree of activity with prices advancing. Trade
on the Curb was in moderate volume. In the maiket for foreign
exchange thero was further improvement in francs and sterling.
Offers are scarce in the corn pit. Cotton was steady. Bar silver was
higher in New York and London.

The greatest advance was lindc in American Car and Foundry, which
rose more than 0 points to the new high record of 123.
Italdwin again reflected accumulation bv Inside interests and advanced
more than 4 points to 10 1'nited States Steel was in steadv demand, nd
ancing 1 to 1047 and gains of around 2 points were made in other
steel industrials Man. of the spermines were also artic and strong,
including Central Leather, Corn Products and I'm ted Hetail Stores. New
Haven became prominent in the late trading, advancing neatly 3 points to 34.
The marine issues nlo made good advances, the common stock moving
up more than 2 points.
Oil stocks were directlv influenced bj the government statement in
regard to production and ndancod 2 to ."! points.

having been the Haldwin Locomotive
Works, which placed contracts for a

with the order for 150 locomotives re
cently taken for shipment to Poland
