Oven Bird's Nest
TjO Tfttl If nnnr nAm tVi nn Mt mat1
Jts name? Well, It was because its nest,
built among the leaves or pine needles
on the ground, Is arched nnd of nn oven-
imp nppenrnnee, says the American For
estry Association. Washington, which is
encouraging bird conservation through
bird-house hulldinir conteeta nmonff
school children and Is conducting a na-
nonai campaign. You do not see the
oven bird sitting on the topmost twig
of a tree like some other members of
the feathery tribe, but he sticks closs
to the ground, mounting to the lower
branches of a tree only to sing or to
scold an Intruder, The song of the oven
bird somewhat resembles the word
"teacher."
Rug "Etiquette"
Re careful about the size of your'
rugs. A little one next to a huge one:
jars one's sense of proportion. Never
lay rugs slantingly on anything. Ii
was considered artistic in the golden
forties to have things all askew, bat
such taste would not be countenanced
now in our generation of severe and
simple expression. Too many small
rugs give a spotted effect. Let your
coverings be, if not the same shape, at
lenst nf about the same area, without
too much floor space showing between.
Re sure that the dominating, color of
the floor is the dominating color of thi
wallpaper nnd ceiling otherwise yog
will arrive nt a restless result.
