HAT a shock Mrs. Ned Rowland's
death was! I do feel jwrry for her
little daughters. .Tuvt think those two
little girls have hnd two shocking
tragedies in early life in the sudden
death of both parents. Do jnu re
member Ned Itowland. the father?
He was traveling on buines some
.iere in Connecticut Hridecport, I
thiuk and suddenly dropped dead in

Mrs. Rowland, hnd been quiti ill

much better when she went up to the
Poconos a few weeks ago that eveo
one thought she had nearly recovered.
Her death came suddenly on the Fourth

Mrs. Itowland worked awfully hard

fourteen and twelve jears of age.
The last services for Mrs. Rowland
will bo held today in St. Davids.

in the back. She had been dancing nnd
her face was flushed and she did look too
pretty. She has lovely dark hair, which
she arranges in a simple becoming way,
and awfully pretty coloring.

SARA H. MULLEN
One of the Oldest Employes of the
Wanamaker Store Dies
Sarn II. Mullen. .TffMi Baring street,
died yesterday at her homo, after a
short illness, ut the age of seventy-two
years. Miss Mullen was one of the
oldest employes of the Wnunmiikei
store, huving worked there for more
than thirty years. She was one of
the original staff, and was emplojed by
John Wanamaker when he founded
"The Depot" on the site of the present
building, Hhe alvthc head of the
department, in charge of interviewing
customers, and was w idelj known
among the patrons of the store. She
retnined her position uutil live weeks
ago.
Miss Mullen, who is survived, by a
brother, has been a teacher iu the Sun-daj-
school of the Asbur.v Methodist
Episcopal Church at Thirty-third nnd
Chestnut streets for manj jears. She
will be birifd from the church which
was founded by her grandfather.
Mrs. Lucy Shaw
Mrs. Lucy Shaw died last night nt
the home of her daughter, Mrs. II.
Walter Hcrroth. .120 West Logau street,
from Injuries received when she fell
last December nnd fractured her hip.
Mrs. Shaw w.aa eighty-five jears old.
She was the widow of Theodore Shaw,
