The action of some on the belief tlint a decline would follow the signing
of the treaty wits tn put out lines of short stocks constantly throughout
the day and there was u good ileal of liquidation by bidders that had become'
uneasy by recessions which occurred as a result of the bear drives, but the
supplj was absorbed without effort, and after early declines the market
steadied itself generally, sustaining little, if any, loss,
1'nited States Sleel ranged from 1(IS!1H to 107, having a good rally
in the late trading.
There was persistent accumulation of llahluiti Locomotive, which rose
nearly '2 points to UMI",, and Crucible Steel was in demand for n good
part of the day with a sagging movement in the afternoon.
Com Products demanded special attention, with an advance of more
than ."i points to above 77, making a new high record.
(fenernl Motors, after falling to 1511), advanced to above 210.
Some of the low-priced railroads were actively traded in at gains of

Many bonds were in good demand, but price movements were in most
cases narrow, there being little change in the market position of the lending
issues. Liberty issues were steady, but Victory notes were irregular, with
the I a s in good demand.

Philadelphia Send New York Gold
Gold coin in the nmotint of .$20, -000,000
was recently shipped from the
Philadelphia Mint to the New York
Subtreasury to meet the present demand
for export. Itecent shipments of the

depleted the Subtrensury's supply of
gold coin. Owing to the annual audit

the Assay Office this Institution will
not be selling nny gold burs for export
