A Big, Awkward Fellow
Stepped Up to the Platform
hugging to his left breast an inexpensive violin. The
young fellow seemed countryish, clumsy and dull
and ill at case. Slowly he screwed up the keys, drew
his bow over the strings, halted and gave the keys
another turn and suddenly the tense cords sleeping
uppn the .wooden bridge woke up and the hall was
flooded with music, and an enraptured audience
recalled him for the third time to continue playing.
TTrtitr IStiln ivn rnnw nnoh nthni-T Thnt humhlP.
chap with big feet and a workman's big hands had
found in himself a little (lame of music and had
spent years of what would have been sleeping hours
and holidays to become a disciple of Ole Bull.
If we only knew our powers and used them, and
tuned ourselves up to concert pitch, we could at
least help to make the world better to live in.
"It was befo' de wah," as James G. Blaine used
to say in fixing dates of incidents in his patriotic
speeches, that we planned and planted this Store
before any such store existed in this or any other
city in the United States, and here we are still
tuning it up every day.

TT IS good to have such an cx
crllent assortment of dinner
ware and glassware during this
wedding month of June; but the
fact is, this would be a remark
able collection any month in the
entire year.
Tlic fact that a good dinner
set or a piece of fine cut glass
is priced considerably below its
lcgular rating does not make
it any the lrss gift-like, but it
does make it all the more de
sirable whether for gift-giving
or for one's own use.
The main thing about this
June Sale is that it presents an
unstinted assortment of stand
ard quality dinner sets
French, English, American and
Japanese also a brilliant gath
ering of fine cut glass at prices
that very sharply contradict pre
vailing market conditions, prices
that mean exceptional and real
savings.
It is certainly true that the
time to buy these goods is
now, when prices are so low,
despite the persistent tendency
of wholesale rates to advance.

The Whole Pith and
Point of This Is That We
Have the Right
Summer Suits for Men
One of the things which this store never wants to do is to
make up a man's mind for him.
What it tiies with all its heart and energies to do is to have
the goods for him once he has made up his mind as to the kind
of goods he wants.
Undoubtedly we arc always ready and willing to help him to
come to an intelligent decision, but never to force him. All of you
men know as much about the weather as we do. Today, to
morrow, the day after it may be intolerably sultry or unseason
ably chilly or half-and-half.
Common sense will guide you as to the kind of suit you will
need.
What we wish to emphasize is that if you are looking for
a new suit, either a regular worsted or blue serge Summer suit
for average Summer weather or a tropical suit of "Palm Beach,"
breeze-weave or mohair material for hot, oppressive days, you
will find us ready with the goods ready with the suits you
are looking for.
Not by way of announcing something new, but by way of
emphasizing something true and also time-proving we may tell
you that the mark of every Summer suit in our possession is
quality.
The regular Summer suits of the kind every man must have
are in a lovely choice of fine, cool woolens beautifully modeled
and tailored at $32 to $05.
Superior tnilorwork is evident in our tropical suits also, and
in these it count-, for a great deal of "Palm Beach," mohair
and breeze-weave at $18 to $10.

exceptionally large for even such a quantity of shirts.
All aie plain negligee, soft-cut style, and cuffs are the new
reversible type that give so much greater service.

For the Dining Room of the New
Bridal Home
So many newly-married couples have in mind to spend, say, $250 to $400, in
furnishing: the dining room in the new home or apartment.
It is an easy thing to go out and spend a sum within that' range and secure in
return a whole lot of dissatisfaction. On the other hand, it is just as easy to secure
the furniture that carries -with it all the satisfaction that anybody can reasonably
desire.
Dining-room suits that carry satisfaction are here in plenty. Ve have picked
out a few at $200 to $450 for particular notice. There are many others equally good
and equallyVorthy of the new bridal home, or, for that matter, of any home.
