After several persons made unsuccessful attempts at stopping the horses, Koons seized the reins and was dragged for ten feet. He was slightly Injured, but stopped the team. The medal was struck the day Koons performed the heroic act and presented to hint twenty-four hours later on behalf of the physicians and nurses of the hos pital. Dr. K. J.
