lacking and declines came in afternoon. Broad Street Curb was firm,
with oils and some specialties making1 good pains. Corn declined on
piofit-takinp sales. The New York Cotton Exchange remained closed,
due to necessity of readjustment to comply with Government's new
nilinR. Foreign exchange1 was dull, with French slightly easier.

In the bond market Interest continued to be concentrated in tho

Interest of the Philadelphia financial district today centered in announce,
nicnt that Tonopah-Bclmont TJeielopment Company directors had voted to
resume dividends, declaring a 10 per cent disbursement, payable April 1 to
stock of record March IB, and In the early strength of William Cramp trust
certificates.
Follow lnu the announcement of tho Tonnopali-Belmoift dividend that
company's stock sold up as high as 3 11-16, lito highest prico recorded slncn
early last year and a gain of V4 over the previous close. It had been expected
for some tlmo hi the Street that a dlvjdend would bo declared c this meeting
and tho stock's recent strength was attributed to that belief.
The last previous dividend declared was voted in May, 19187 when a dls.
bursement of to per cent waa authorized. Previous to that time 12VJ per
tvm naa Dccn ucciared quarterly since January, 1915. -,
i-ariy m the day Cramp trust certificates moved up 5 points, and by tho
end of tho first hour's trading around 800 shares .had changed hands at that
level, which was an upturn of more than 10 points in two days. However,
around midday a reaction occurred and a few tales carried the price off to 8R.
Pennsylvania Railroad,- which held up well yesterday when most other
rails declined-sharply on news of tho failure of Congress to tako action on
tho railroad revolving fund act. yielded slightly today, while Reading Com
pany lost more than 1 point. Erio 1 point and Lehigh Valley cawo out un
changed. Rapid Tram.lt trust certificates showed a fair amount of momentum and
declined fractionally and United Gas Improvement yielded 4, General As
phalt common 1 point, Lako Superior a fraction, but Asphalt preferred ad
vanced 14 and Storage Battery and Cambria Iron turned upward for sub
rtuntlul pnlns.
