Turning On and Oft Will Cost- Dollar
After January 1
Every time a consumer desires the
gas turned off or on after the first of the
year he will have to pay for it. Charges
will also be made for removing foreign
articles from slot gas meters and for
changing the positions of meters -txnd
pipes.
In a notice Issued today the United
Gas Improvement Company and Equita
ble Illuminating Gaslight Company set
forth specifically what these charges
will be, and they have filed a new sched
ule of rates with the Public Service
Commission, effective January 2, 1919. .
It will cost a dollar to shut off the gas
at the request of a consumer who goes
awny for the season nnd another dollar

Forcing the door of a burning stable
at Twentieth and McClellan streets last
night, Policeman White, of the Twen
tieth nnd Federal streets station, rescued
eight horses. A ninth horse was burned
to death. The stable belonged to Joseph
Shaffer, a milk dealer.

city automobile, driven by Assistant
Chief Barrett, and a motortruck, oper
ated by Charles McCoombs, collldeO near

Fire that was discovered in Building
No. 2 of the General Fertilizer Company,
Weccacoo and Dataware avenues, about

tion. He was held without ball by
Maglstrato Baker, Fourth street and
Snyder avenue station this morning to
await a further investigation
