and that any man's guess Is as good as
another.
"We must exnect an unsettled market
for some time till there Is readjustment
ot values In the public mind," was the
remark of another broker. "In the
meantime," he continued, "I consider all
the old standard stocks, which wero
standard before the war, and railroad,
stocks as a good buy. But," he said,
"most o"f the Industrials are likely In,
the near future to pW through a process
of readjustment vvhllh will determine
their values." 1
38 i in this connection a readjustment of.
the great steel Industries Is to be under-1
taken at a meeting of the steel com-1
nilttee of the Count-!! of National De-
07? fense In Washington today. Not only
71 1, have all the members of the commlttsm
48! i been summoned, but the heads of the
OS? great steel plants have been requested
112? ! to attend.
83' it a believed the object of the con-
13.' ference will be to divert the output of
o7,i the great plants from war to peace pur
lOJilposes. The first to benefit by this dls
11'l tributlon. It Is said, will be producers'
16 I of agricultural implements and automo-j
... 'biles. Including farm tractors. The con-1
03! j ference "may last several days and will
,!2i;' undoubtedly have Its effect on prices of
111 steel stocks.
