LABOR UPHOLDS THE BRIDGE
The gigantic power of American labor is making it possible for our
armies to get to the battlefront and to stay there.
The personal responsibility of every producer is tremendous. Your
country rightly expects that every bit of energy you possess should be
exerted to accomplish the final overthrow of our common enemy.
The workman who changes his position or occupation today, provided
His working conditions are congenial, endangers the great bridge that
is supported in part by his unswerving loyalty.
You are a part of this giant structure, a necessary span which, if
removed, will weaken the whole structure.
What most Americans do not realize is that they are fighting two dis
tinct German enemies; one is in the open on the field of battle; the
other works in secret in our midst, often at our threshold, sometimes
in our yery homes.
Stick to your tools as loyally as the Hoys in khaki stick to their guns. Every
full day's work you put in brings your brothers in arms that much nearer
to Berlin.
The man who works faithfully is hitting the enemy every minute.
