PHILADELPHIA was founded 236 years ago.
William Penn, the founder of the great Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, laid out its beginnings in the wilderness
and named it Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.
TODAY Philadelphia has a population of nearly 2,000,000, with
an area within the city limits exceeding the combined areas of Boston,
Cleveland and Baltimore. Philadelphia is truly a city of homes, having
more single residences than any other city in America, eighty-five per
cent of which are owned by their occupants.
