October 6 points lower and tho later
positions unchanged to 11 points higher.
For a time offerings were sufficient in
keep prices around the opening level.

broader bujlng, which caused prices to
advance rapidly.
By the end of the first ten minutes
the lists showed net gains of 48 to G2

Liverpool was a buyer of October and

enced by the Government reiiort and
the further decline In condition since
July 25 Tile South turned to the buy
ing side.

today developed Increased strength on
the war outlook and Chancellor Andrew
Bonar Law's financial statement, and
closed for the holidays with a distinctly
cheerful undertone
Gilt edged securities, naturally, showed
the best gains, but other good ipots r
cluded Honduras and Japanese bonds
and brewery stocks. Russian Issues '
continued to harden, but oil and engin
eering tihares dropped on Protlttaking.
Money was easy and discount rates
were quiet.
