Speculative Element Uses Agitation Against Profiteering

Out of Market
New Ynrli, July 1.
The amount of commission business on the stock echnnRc this morn
ing was Indicated by tho fact that there were only sK brokers' numbeis
on the annunciator board when the market opened, RlvinK evidence that
tho situation was wholly In the hands of professionals
This speculative element used the press notation about profHeerlnK

after the opening the succeeded In putting United Steel common down 1
point to 10" At that price man short, selling ordeis weie received, and
their execution caused a further decline to 106i, bcfoie the end of the
first hour Other steel Industil.ils moved In the same way, with Ualdwln,
after advancing ., to 93, declining below 9 2
The in ijorlt of other issues moved In the same wav.
.Marine pieferrcd made a gain of 'A to 0i and then diopped to 101,
Mexican Petroleum sold olt l' to 975s, and Utah Copper, after advancing

A few Issues made gains while the Rcnei.il market declined

in fares and that stock made a gain of tH to 39
Anaconda was In good demand and there was the best kind of buying
in that stock and Inspiration, which mas probably be a continuation of
market operations having In view l.ugei holdings of Inspiration by the
