HELLO, PHILLY!
This is George W. Lederer speaking!
Greetings!
I'm back home again prodigal-like! a most fatted calf is
here before me, and I am to
wont and to my better liking)
THE LIVING STAGE
For some seasons back I've been basking In the Sun Rays of!
the "Movies" producing "Motion Pictures" was among the
first to recognize their importance. I now wish to go on record
as being among the Very First to predict their early decline.
Convinced, now, that the theatre has come back into its own
stronger than ever and fully restored I recently hied myself
to the offices of the world's most prominent showmen, Klaw &
Erlangcr, and, briefly, here's the gist of a two-minute talk:
"Boys, I've had enough of the silent play it's back to the good
old legitimate stage for mine."
Says K. & E. to me, says they: "Good tor you, George; come
right in, the water's fine take a hike 'round the town, and
pick whatever you like best"
It was a short hike. Little did I anticipate being so fortunate as
to find "Something New Under the Sun" I put my finger right
on it
"THE LAND OF JOY!"
"When do you want it?" says K. & E.
"When the show opens in good old Philly, the city of my birth,"
says I.
So here I am heralding "The Land of Joy!" the new Spanish
revue that set New York ablaze ablaze is right with its
warmth of color in scenes opulence of femininity torridity
of score the biggest novelty of the age the greatest I've seen
in all my show-born days.
I've dubbed it "The Tip-Toe Show!" because it is the most
.mh Jaii n an mm aliAui iitiil ...
The big company of more than 93 comprises a combination of
the most marvelous dancers and singers in the world.
I've beat it from the "fill-urna" to follow Doloretes don't
know Doloretes? wait:
"THE LAND OF JOY!" IS DOLORETES
AND DOLORETES IS THE JOY OF THE LAND!
She's the rage the strangest miracle in terpsichore. I'm
familiar with dusty tomes that still throb with the dancing)
genius of one Taglioni who enslaved kingdoms. I've apostled
terpsichorean geniuses in many productions. Doloretes blots
them all out fire, passion, floods, mists these all consume
you, once under Her spell. Inspired thrilled are the words.
The only American in the great cast is the comedian, Mr. Julius
Tanner, who aids with his infectious jollity to give the audiences
a clear understanding of the incidents of the play.
The Big Show starts Monday
evening, March 11th, at the
