cither way In this morning's trading, there bclflK llttlo outside Interest,
with nearly nil tho business coming either from the room traders or from
some of tho pools In closely controlled specialties.
Tho railroad issues, however, attracted attention becauso of thUr
general hcaWness, there being little demand for these stocks uround
recently prevailing prices, and declines occJired In them In small
sales.
St. Paul common and preferred both declined about 1 point and there
was n loss of ?4 In Baltimore and Ohio, which sold at 51 Vi
Conflicting reports about the Marino dividend outlook were Incentives
for trading both ways In the prefetied stock, w Ith an advance of H to
92U and then u drop to 00U-
There was a show of strength In United .States Steel common for a
few minutes -after tho opening when that stock roM) to 92, but tinders
sold. (tulckly, and that carried Its prion down to Hi.
Mexican Petroleum showed strength, advancing fiom 82V4 l ".
with tho buying coming to a great extent from Interests Identified with
tho management and tho market position of the stock was helped by the
announcement from Washington that there would bo no Government
price-fixing on tho petroleum products.
General Electrics sold ex rights at 129W. a loss of about '.
