A SERIOUS .crisis has resulted
in a great shortage in the coal
supply for Pennsylvania nml in
the suffering of ninny men,
women and children, who nro un
able to obtain heat nnd light.
Owing to this lack of coal, gas
has been substituted for heating
purposes in many houses, and ns
it result n shortage of gas is
threatened.
All patriotic women are uiged
to show the same spirit of in
terest nnd self-denial in the con
servation of fuel ns they hnvo so
splendidly shown in tho conserva
tion of food.
Thcv nre uiged to use caution
as follows:
No gas should bo burned in
the davtimo ccept for the pur
pose of cooking or where illumi
nation is needed for work, or
where fuel for heat is lucking.
No light should be burned in
unoccupied rooms or ballwavs.
No light should be burned in
occupied rooms except for
actual use.
No houses buildings should
bo overheated. 'V-irn clothing
should be worn and high tem
peratures modified.
