tinuances of cases for the next thirty
days, to enable the attorneys of Penn
sylvania to give aid to registrants under
the draft law. The Attorney General
wrote his letter after learning from
Provost Marshal General Crovvder of
the action of the District ot Columbia

nouncing that the steamship Nleuvv Am
sterdam Is safe. Officials of the line
here had had g(ive fears for her safety.
The big liner was the first ship to leave
here after tho embargo on Dutch thlps
was raised She put Into Halifax for
examination and since that time had not
been heard from. She carried 10,000
ton of corn for Belgian war relief, be
sides a large passenger list.
Tho steamship Mont Ulnnc. which
blew up, was of the French Dine. Sho
was under orders to tho British Admi
ralty, It was stated, and none of the
officers could tell anything of her move
ments. She was a single-screw steam
ship of 3121 tons and carried n crew of
thirty-five. J. Savcry was her com-
mander.
The Imo was built for the White Star
Line, but was under Norwegian icg
Istry. She was formerly known ns tho
Huiilc, but changed her name w hen told
a few years ngo to the South Pacific
Whaling Company. Tho Imo carried a
crew of about sixty men and was com
manded by Captain Throm. She was a
four-sniasted Iron vessel of 5013 tons.

Announcement has been made that
