Admiralty's weekly report, showing that
16 British merchant ships of 1000 tdns
or over were sunk by mines or sub
marines In the last week, business In

quiet today. The markets were listless,
with their undertone subdued.

section was hard. Sales of the new
National War Donds are progressing

rumor could not bo confirmed.

noon hour. offerings wero well ab
soibed on the early setback of some 12
or 15 points by the continued buying
of trade Interests nnd nfter Fellng early,
Liverpool turned n buyer. The bulges,
however, seemed to meet Increased li
quidation or tealUIng and tho tone was
uncertain.

tho tendency to even up commitments
for over tho approaching Ciovernment
rrpoits. and the market soemed to
be lliKtuatlng between the selling of
old longs and the bullish view of tho
spot situation.
