From
From his position in the wings of the Theatre of War Mr. Gibson wit
nessed the dramatic rise of the curtain on this tragedy of a nation. His descrip
tion records the few brief notes of the overture, the dynamic force of the open
ing acts of the drama as the Teuton hordes ravaged their way through Belgium
and the full sweep of the horror which continues to the present day.
King Albert and Queen Elizabeth, Baron von Bissing, Field Marshal von
der Goltz, Edith Cavell and the otner actors in this national tragedy all appear
in his authentic account of what took place during the red days of Prussian
piuage.
