James A. Carey. McNIchol candidate, was nominated for Select Council over Isaao Deutsch, Vare-Smlth candidate, after a day of civil war In the "Bloody Fifth" Ward. With returns from the First Division miss Inf. Carey received 923 votes and Deutsch 822, a majority of 101 for the McNIchol ward leader. " The candidates nominated for county of fices and Magistrate were as follows; District Attorney Republican Samuel r. Ilotan. Democratic Itlchard T. McSorley. Washington Samuel J. Houston. SIX JUDGES RUN TAR AHEAD Six ot the eight Judges seeking re-election ran so far ahead of their opponents that they will have no opposition at the general election, President Judge F Amedee Bregy, seek ing re-election In Common Pleas Court No. 1. and President Judgo Charles Y Auden rled. In court No. 4, were virtually elected, as their names will be the only ones on the general ballot for these oftlces. They each polled more than BO per cent of the total number of votes cast for these offices and also more than 50 per cent of the highest number of votes casj In tho election. President Judge Charles B. McMlchael and Judgo C. Ferguson, In Court No. 3, and Judges Edward A. Anderson and Joseph V. Lamorelle, of the Orphans' Court, also had negligible opposition. The contest for the two seats In Court No. S may be carried to the general election on November 6, as the result of the knifing of Judge Staake In favor of Bonnlwell In the McNIchol wards. The names of Judges John Monaghan and Staake, and Bonnlwell , and Frederick S, Drake may all appear on the general ballot after the official count. HEAVY VOTE FOR BONNIWELL Bonnlwell received a heavy vote In the Tenth, Eleventh nnd Twenty-seventh wards, all of which are controlled by McNIchol. The Tenth Is McNIchol's home ward. In that ward. Bonnlwell received 2114 votes and Judge Monaghan 2130. Judge Staake receded only 381. City Solicitor John P. Connelly Is leader In the Eleventh Ward. Judge Staake polled only 211 votes there, while Judge Monaghan was given 1050 and Bonnlwell 380. State Senator Edward W. Patton, who was first slated for City Treasurer by tho Vares and later turned down In favor of Shoyer, is leader In the Twenty-seventh Ward. That ward gave Staake, 1109; Bonnlwell, 1178, and Monaghan, 1879. ROTAN SNOWS OIBBONEY UNDER Samuel P Rotan snowed D. Clarence Glbboney under In the contest for the Re publican nomination for District Attorney. Rotan polled a vote of 151,827, while Glb boney received 15,109. Ira D. Garman, Independent candidate tor City Treasury, received only 11,498 votes on the Republican ticket, as against 133,114 for Frederick J. Shoyer, the Blated candidate of the Organization. James B. Sheehan, for re-election as Register of Wills, polled 128,783, as against 18,367 for Robert Carson. In the Democratic primary, the contests were over the nominations for Register of Wills and for magistrate. Edward W. Lank, Democratic City Chairman, polled 8384 votes for Register of Wills. His nearest opponent was James J. Breen, with 5847. The fight for the Democratic nominations (or Magistrate was close. William Elsen brown led, with 9547. Joseph S. Boyle won out over John J, McQuald for the fourth nomination by 483 votes, Boyle receiving S748 and McQuald E265. The other two nominees are Edwin K. Borle and John J.
