Safety lies in doing things the right way. Accidents come from doing things the wrong way.
In Pennsylvania alone 3413 were killed, 312,637 were injured in the first fifteen months following the enactment of the workmen's compensation law. Sixty-five pet cent of the killed
were married men.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS CAMPAIGN
With these facts before us, and realizing the large number of accidents which
occur daily in a great industrial community' such as ours, THE LEDGER announces the
inauguration of an extensive campaign advocating common sense in the prevention of
accidents and urging the strict' observance of simple safety rules which it will lay down
from time to time.
This campaign is planned and financed by the Manufacturing Interests, Insur
ance Companies, Financial Institutions, Public Service Corporations and others, whose
names appear below. These educational talks will appear regularly in this newspaper.
For your own sake, as well as for those dependent on you, the entire series should be read.
