Clothes for Soldiers," from the Japan
Advertiser of Dec 12, forwarded by
Consul General Georce H. Scldmoro,
Yokohama:
" 'Kamlco,' ao paper clothing is
called ln Japan, Is made ot the real
Japanese paper manufactured from
mulberry baric. Tho paper has lit
tle 'size' In- It, and though toft'.md
warm, a thin Jayec of silk wadding
Is plaJcod between two sheets of the
paper and tho whole is quilled Vel
vet shirts and drawers made in this
way aro more comfortable than flan
nels. Tho Japanese soldiers realized
tho value of this kind of clothing
when they had to weather a Siberian
winter. The retail price for a vest
Is about il, foe drawers about S2.60,
and for a cholera belt about 25 cents
Tho only drawback to this clothing
Is that It is Jiot washable.
