Many Youngsters Will Have En
tries at Annual Indoor
Horse Show
PRIZE LIST AND DONORS
Today Is children's day at the sixth an
nual Philadelphia Indoor Horse Show, which
is being held In tho Third Regiment Ar
mory, Broad and Federal streets, for tho
benefit of the American Hospital, tho
Babies' Hospital of Philadelphia, Clarrctson
Hospital, Oncologic Hospital, Polyclinic Hos
pital and tho Samaritan Hospital. "
Tho youngsters nnd the ponies will have
their Inning now. To bo sure, there have
been children in the events of Thursday
and Friday, but the big time will be this
afternoon, when tho youngsters are out
of school.
The child .sensation so far has been young
Dick Clarke, son of Thomas W. Claikc, one
of the managers of the Dolchesler F.inns,
nephew of Joseph Claike, who caused so
much favorable comment among the spec
tntors for tho way he tode Jackonettn,
owned by the Countess tin Holstcln, yes
terday afternoon. This was the first time
Jackonetta had ever appeared In n ring.
She won second place, although most of tho
audience thought from he- form ami action
she would be awarded flrls.
Young Dick has captured two firsts and
a second so far, and shows from the way
he handles his ponies that he knows horso
tlesh : In fact, that "he Is a chip off the old
l14:k."
Children from tho Main I.lno whoso
parents nre Interested In horsvs will appear
In the tanbark ring this afternoon. Among
those who have entered nnd expect them
selves to' drive are Walter J. Staats, Jr ,
Pope Yeatmon, Jr., Miss Dorothy Kennedy
nnd Miss Frances Powell, the young girl
who so gracefully gave up the silver cup
and blue ribbon In class three, the opening
event of the show.
Miss Powell had already been nwnided
the cup and had, as is customaiy in horse
show etiquette, made the rounds of ring,
amid much applause It was found that a
mistake had been made by the judges.
Without a word of demur she gave up
the cup and ribbon and graciously handed
it over to her opponent.
' Other children who will be In the ring
this afternoon will bo Miss Ruth Bur
roughs, Miss Catherine, Miss Alma Wana
maker, Miss Olive Vaughan and Miss. Flor
ence Delchester.
