NEW YORK, Feb. 17 The market for
coffee futures opened steady today, un
changed to an advance of 3 points. Trans
actions on the call amounted to about
6000 bags.
The market became a little more active
and steadier after the opening on outside
buying, some of which "was evidently for
Kuropean account.
There was some further switching March
to December at 47 points. The shipping
situation in Brazil was said to be a little
easier, but firm offers were a little irregu
lar. The local spot market was unchanged
at 10c for Wo 7.

NEW YOBIx. Feb. 17 Consumers of
ccppVr are gradually Increasing their hid
prices, for early deliveries and, are now
willing to offer 37 cents per pound for car
toad lots of electrolytic. Some dealers
quote third-quarter delivery at 30 44 to 31c,
but producing Interests say that they will
not iccept less than 32 cents per pound
for this delivery. The nominal quotation
for prompt delivery Is 3644 to 374ic, for
March 35c, for April 34c, and for the sec
ond quarter 33 to 34c.
Record Price for Lead
NEW YORK, Feb. 17. Two car loads of
lead haxe been sold at the record price of
1044o per pound. The American Smelting
nnd Refining Company today qu4ed 8 He per
pound, while Independents quoted 944 to
4o for prompt and February delivery,
44 c for March and 944 to 04o for April.
