manufactures sent abroad )u,t year were

tuies ready for consumption wero valued
at $2,625,686,208, the Commerce Depart
ment announced jesttrday, compared with
$1,315,105,562 In 1915. They fon.ned more
than half of the year's Increase In exports,
which aggregated 15,421,209,102, against
$3,493,230,532 in 1915
Crude materials for use In manufacturing
exported amounted to $719,760,977, an In
crease ot $152,000,000 over 1915; foodstuffs
In crude condition and food animals were
valued at $421,279,570, a decrease of $39,
500,000 ; foodstuffs partly or wholly manu
factured totaled $648,059,813, an Increase
of $97,500,000, and manufactures for further
use In manufacturing were valued at 7912,
202,629, an Increase of $436,600,000.
Horses exported were valued at C3L
752,826 and mules at $28,009,018.
