Board of Commissioners of Navigation,
said today that the trip of the heavy-draft
steamship was conclusive evidence of tho
Improvement In the channel and Indicate

progressing.
"It looks good for the expansion of the

Miss Margaretta Washington, great-great-grandnlcce
of Georgo 'Washington
and a daughter of Goorgo Lafnyctto Wash
ington and Ann Bull Clcmson Washing
ton, of Jefferson County, Virginia, died
yesterday from heart disease at her homo,
214 South Forty-third street. Slio had a
wide reputation In tho medical profession
for her anatomical skotches, which wero In
use by physicians and colleges throughout
the country.
Though of tho family of the "father of
his country." Miss Washington, In common
with her three sisters, declined member
ship In such societies as tho Colonial Dames
and tho Daughters of tho American Revolu
tion. Miss Washington's father was son
of Dr. Samuel Walter Washington, a grand
son of Gcorgo Steptoo Washington, and a
great-grandson of Colouo Samuel Wash
ington, the latter n br-Wr of tho llrst
President of tho United .ites.
Tho surviving sisters of Miss Washington
are Mrs. Anne tlnrewood Washington
Naulty, Miss Martha Washington and Miss
Elizabeth Fisher Washington. The latter Is
well known as a painter of portraits and
miniatures.
Tho funeral of Miss Washington will bo
held at 11 o'clock tomorrow at her homo,
and In accordance with her wishes It will
bo private. Tho burial will bo at Laurel
Mil Cemetery.
Mrs. Emma Ilcuftie-
Mrs. Emma lleuftle, torty-eight years
old, of 3004 Glrard avenue, died suddenly
In the German Hospital last night. She
had been taken to the hospltnl after having
collapsed at Twenty-eighth street and
Glrard avenue at 7:30 'o'clock.
Mrs. Heuftlo had been prominent In tho
uerman circiea or .rninueipnir atia was
a member of the board of directors or the
German Hospital nnd nas a member of
the German lied Cross Society and the
Germany Society, together with several
other philanthropic organizations.
She Is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
leo Balxcrett and Miss Hmma Heuftlo. Her
husband. Capser Heuf.tle, a former partner
Jn tho Kerr-Heuftle Coal Company, died In
January, 1013. Mrs. Heuftlo was a native
of Germany.

Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren

srlve Mrs. Henrietta M. Dine, of 3036 Lan
caster avenue, who died on Tuesday at tho
age of ninety years, after an Illness of only
a few days. Among her most precious pos
sessions were two deeds given one of her
forefathers by William Pen In the closing
days of the seventeenth century. Funeral
services will be conducted In her home this
afternoon.
