Brokers Are Reducing Loans
Tha flnanclal illstrlct In Phllarlelplila
found very llttlo to discuss today. About
th most lmtortnt development wan tha
declaration of a dividend of 4 per cent by
the I'ennsylvanla Company, hlcli operates

against per cent declared In 1916.
The stock market did very little, business
feeing the imallest today of any day of tha
present month. Consequently the. changes
In prices were, as a rule, narrow,' Cambria
Steel being the ona prominent exception.
This stock came out with a toss of S points
as compared with tha last previous closo
and inter sold un 10 points, making a gain
of S points as compared with tho previous
sale. Tho supply of this stock In tho Stt-cct
In very small, nnd therefore tho movements
nro usually wide when It doca sell.
Brokers aro generally reducing their
loans. This waa shown very conclusively
In the bank statement of yesterday. At ono
large commission house today It was said
that loans have been cut down very mate
rially. It was pointed out that this Is not
unuailal at this tlma of tho year, when
traders are cleaning off their books In
