With the tone Strong, Trading was smaller
than recently. Trailers figured that 7,800,
000 bales st annum would be reciulred
for home consumption on tho basis of thrrp
report, and this led to a good demand
from room operators, whllo Liverpool also
purchased and commission nnd southern
houses executed orders of the buying sldo.
' Tho selling came from Wall street, up
town and western Interests nnd New Or
leans houses, but was not persistent at
any time.
After the call the demand Increased ma
terially, led by commission houses, nnd be
fore tho end of tho first ten minutes fur
ther upturns of 4 to 7 points had been
established.
Tho opening advance carried the market
about 48 polntu nbovo yesterday's low
level. This seemed to nttract lncrensed
offerings.
Liverpool was a seller, whllo an easier
turn In the stock ninrket was acenmpu
hled by Wall street selling orders, and thero
were reactions to within n. few points of
last night's closing figures during the mid
dle of the morning.
There was a very good demand around
JS.40o for March, which came partly from
tindo sources, but general sontlment was
evidently unsettled by conflicting views of
peacn prospects.
Offerings seemed to have been pretty
-Well absorbed on the decline to 18.65a for
Slay and tho market turned steady early In
the noon hour on covering and trade buying

ture today gavo out the following report
showing- cotton, exclusive of llnters, con
sumed during November was 684,083 run
ning balps In 1910, compared with 614,743
In 1915, of which 333,053 Ibales were con
sumed In cotton-growing States In 1918 and
185,470 In 1816. Llnters consumed during
November totaled 84,991 bales In 1916 and
82489 In 191B. In October of this year
$55,349 bales were consumed.
