was Informed today by the Hell Telephone
Company office that the fire appeal was n
hoax. The call for nssltanee waa received
by Operator Lockard. of Jlhe Brandywlno
Klre Company, over the long-distance
phone, a womnn's voice raying that help
was needed. Lockard notified Fire Chief
Golden, who ordered the two companies to
proceed to the railroad yards nnd nwalt
orders. Tho false alarm caused consider
able excitement here.
