lishment of tho 5 per cent call money rato nnd tho exhaustion of tlmo money
offers on nil industrial collateral for three to six months nt 4 V& per cent demanded
more attention from tho speculative clement nnd was effective In restricting buy
ing nil through the day.
Tills left tho market sonslttvo to sales for both long nnd short account nnd
explained tho downward movement In tho first half of tho day, on which losses
wero sustained In tho general Hit ranging from I to 3 points. Today call money
loaned early at 5 per cent, but tho. arrival of lnoie gold caused nn easier situation,
although tho rato advanced to 6 per cent at the end of tho tin.

causing liquidation of sterling, with demand selling at 4.7BH. Prospective pro

80.20 to 29.85. Itelchsmark checks on Berlin sold down to the now lo w lovol
of 67 Ji and crown cables on Vienna sold n't tho now low record of 11.70.
Tho bond market was goncrnlly heavy, with offerings of foreign Ooernment
bonds attracting most nttcntlon. Anglo-l'iench 5s sold down to 94t,; CItv of Porli
6s sold at is to 3614, but later milled to fl7. Chill Copper 7.i were heavy, selling
down to 145.
