SHIP'S CREW FIGHTS FIRE
Point Arrives In Port After
Thrilling Experience
The crew of the British steamahlp Kast
rolnt was completely exhausted upon the
arrival of the ship In this port last night,
-following a harrowing experience with fire
-and storm at sea.
While tha big vessel waa fighting her way
through a hurricane on the night of October
28 lire suddenly marled In one of the for
ward compartments. The crew fought the
flames for more than five hours under the
direction of Captain Young. Tone of water
were poured Into the hold, causing the ship
to list to such an extent that the bowa
dipped Into the sea. For many hours the
Bast Point floundered as an empty cask.
Several members of the crew volunteered
to enter the burning compartment In an
effort to cut a way for the auction hose.
They were auccesiful, and after several
Sorts the hose waa connected and the
steam pumps started.

When Car Overturns Another
Passenger Injured
Charles Samlster, a mill owner of Mana
yunk, was crushed to dea'th last night when
hla automobile, striking a sharp curve of
Oermantown pike In Norrlstown being re
paired, overturned and pinned him beneath
It. Charles Ilex and William Jackson, who
were riding with him, were thrown clear of
the car, Jackson escaping Injury and Rex
sustaining a fracture of an arm and a rib.

First Regiment Man Hit by Auto
Earl Wiser, 19 years old, of 4826 Melrose
street, who waa a member of the Flrat
Regiment, M. O. P., and drove an automobile
