TEMPTATION
My Dear Children Should we regard TEMPTATION as a reality or not?
You remember the good mother who said to her little boy, "Son, whenever
Satan tempts you; say, 'Get thee behind me Satan.' "
One day the son climbed an apple tree somethlne his mother had for
bidden him to do.
"Why did you not say, 'Get thee behind me, Satan,' as I told you 1" aaked
the boy's tp her.
"I did, jther," answered the son, "and he pushed me up the, treol" .
I have tried to .teach' you the action of mind, and BODY, both together. Let
us carry this into our talk on temptation.
If you are looking Into a candy store window just "itching and Itching"
to spend nve cents, which you know should be spent for a pencil or something
NECESSARY, stop looking Into the window and WALK AWAY.
If you are walking and temptation comes to you, STAND STILL If only
for a moment
If thoughts come to you in the night which do not belong In your head
get up and take a drink of water. Never mind the cold It will not harm you
so much as evil THOUGHTS. FARMER SMITH, Children's Editor.

WILLIE WIDEAWAKE'S PICTURE
By Farmer Smith
"Mother dear," said Willis Wideawake
to his mother one night. "I do wish you
would put the cat where he will not wake
me up In the morning. I have auch a hard
time going to sleep I would ao like to sleep
late In the morning."
"Yes, Indeed; you dear boy you dream,
er, I will see that Thomaa doea not bother
you again."
"All great men have been dreamers,"
answered Willie, as he gave his mother a
good-night kiss".
Willie Just couldn't go to sleep, He
tossed and tossed.
"He careful 1" said a voice so near Willie
It made him Jump.
"It Is not 'he Oood Dream Fairy," an
swered the voice. "It la the spirit of the
picture the picture you ara going to
paint"
"I guesa I had better get up and start
to paint," answered Willie, jumping out of
bed and running to hla little stool In front
of the easel.
"Whoop tee dee I"
You forgot me!"
A strange voice was ao near Willie he
reached out his hand aa It to touch some
thing. "Here right here. I am the pallet and
you mix your paints on me."
"Oh I" said Willie.
"I don't care a rap,
If you paint without a cap I''
It was another voice thla time. Looking
around, Willie saw a velvet cap.
"Aha I" he exclaimed. "Of courae, I can
not be a real painter without a velvet cap
and a flowing necktie. Maybe that will
come along" later."
At that moment a gust of wind blew
something against Willie's cheek,
"Well, I will be Jiggered, If there isn't
my necktie, NOW, I will start to paint"
Willie seated himself before the canvas
and what should ha palntT
Canvaa, brushes, paint everything ready
but nothing to paint.
Willie looked around at the pictures oa
his wall. There was mother, dearest moth'
er, looking down at him. He did not need
