The Maxwell Motor Company, Inc., declared a regular quartet lu divi
dend of $Ji.oO a share on the common, placing that stock on a 10 per cent
basis, and also a $7 annual dividend, payable m four installments, on the first
preferred. The Pittsburgh Brewing Company declared a dividend of 1-i of 1
per cent in addition to regulai quarterly of 1 S-i per cent on account of back
dividends on the preferred stock: Philadelphia financiers discussed thi iwssi
bilit'es of the new Biitish loan of $250,000,000 being iisucd soon and a large
amount of it being taken by local investors. Exports of merchandise from

Maxwell Motor Company to Pay Hip; Dividends
NCW YORK, Aug. 15. The .Muwvoll Motot Company, Inc., today dcclaied a

tho JIOU.000,000 three-jear 5 per cent notes
of tha American Foreign Securities Com
pany haH been dissolved nnd tho bankers
have mailed checks to participants covering
the profit derived from the transaction.
Tho profit was J per cent, from which
U of t per cent selling commission was
allowed members, and the balance, less
binall syndicate outlays, was distributed.
This syndicate was handled strictly as
a selling syndicate and there were no with
drawal privileges permitted, so that par
ticipants who were not subscribers as welt
did not receive any of the notes. The notes
are now quoted at OS'S 95', J
Although the amount of subscriptions re
ceived for the notes was not announced of
ficially, it was understood to have been in
excess of $150,000,000. Bankers handling
the transaction stated the number of small
participants to the underwriting was Urge,
a part of the notes having been issued in
the denomination of 1 100,
