EVENING LEDaER-PHIIADELPHIA, SATURDAY, JULY 8, 1016. 9 0 AIDES AT SUMMER FESTIVAL NEXT WEDNESDAY i ... fc rt V. NANGY WYNNE IS INTERESTED IN VARIOUS OUTDbOR SPORTS , - ' Delightful Informal Affairs Are Given Every Sunday by 1 Special Members of Society During Early Summer. - Tennis, Golf and Informal Luncheons A MOST delightful way of spending n holiday has been choqert by a nurn- ber of the married sotf who llvo oiit on the ilalii Line. Thoy.'rneot on Sundays at the Various houses, haVo an informal luncheon and play lehnls or golf as the wish may be. The Bnrkllo Henrys will be hosts tomorrow at their home, Pino Cottage, In Rosemont. Bomo of the members of this little sort of half-, club are Mr, and Mrs. J. Kearsloy Mitch ,11, Mr", and Mrs. deorgo McFadden, Mr. , and Mrs. Tom McKeanf Mr. and Sirs. Ned BroWlng, Mr. and Mrs. TruxtUn Hare,, Mr. and Mrs. Beau Thomson, Mr, and Mrs. Ben Chow, Mr. and Mrs. Bob - Cassatt, Mrs. Betty Madejra, Captain and Mrs. Franklin McFadden' and Major and , Mrs. John C. Oroomo. Of course, Cap tain McFadden wjll not be thero tomor row, as he Is already far on his way to Texas at the head of tho 1st City Troop and Troop 'V, For you know tho 2d i 'City Troop has been ruthlessly shorn of its name and captain and placed under the command of Captain McFadden. 5hen, too, John Oroomo may not bo there W.hert I last heard of him ho had not decided whothe?ho ought to go with tho Troop.of which ho was so long captain, or remain hero as "tho head of tho Stato con stabulary might bo bound to do. I did not notjeys him yestorday moriilng in tho crowd, but Goodness knows I might havo missed seeing my best friend in that bunch of humanity which swept about the platform of tho station at tho B. & O. at 2 sr.' m. I did sea young John, or, rather, Jack. Jack- seems to mo rather unusual for so young a man. A thinker, I surmise, probably duo to makp his mark in tho world. His , mother was Agnes Roberts and ho has two sisters, Mrs. Dal Dixon, Jr., and Mrs. Thomp son, of Now York. Tho formor was Agnes Oroomo and tho lattor Martha Groome. To return to tho Sunday tennis and irolf parties, they nro really great fun, tho various intimates who enjoy thorn tell me. Well, you novor can tell, but strange and wonderful things do happen theso days and truth is ofton stranger than fiction. But you will scarcely bellovo me when I tell you that vory soon wo aro to be startled with an engagement. And the startling part is that tho woman In the case is nearly fifty and, stranger Dtlll, has no means to speak of, while tho man is not yet 35 nnd Is only woll-to-do. It seems to bo a real cases of lovo and, yet again, it seems qulto unthinkable) to my poor way of looking at things. How can a woman of so many more ypars' experience respect tho opinion of a man so much younger, and if lovo Is not founded on respect, what havo you? This sounds pretty mucli of a roast, but it Is not meant to bo. I -olmply And it hard to take in. Perhaps it will turn out vory well. I don't think you will hear it for several months, my dears, but whefl you do, remember I told you first. Littlo Nanoy seems to bo ablo to snoop on theso little things, all unconscious herself of what she may come upon in her dally wanderings. I'll tell you this much tho woman in question llvos not far from Chestnut II11I. NANCY "WYNNE. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Feaco.
