VARIOUS DOINGS OF SOCIETY
'A Delightful Affair WJll Be Given Tonight at the Home

Their Son and Daughter

MEMBERS of the younger set are look
ing forward to the dance which Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Brinton Coxo wilt give
tonight at their beautiful country home
In Ponilyn In honor of their daughter,
Catherlno Coxe, and their son, Henry
Brinton Coxe, Jr. Besides tho dance for
tonight there will bo a houao party over
the week-end, lasting until the Fourth
of July. A lot of young Harry's class
mates of St. Mark's School, from which
he was a graduato of the class of 1916
this wook, are among tho guests at tho
houso party Henry Blgolow, of Boston;
Watson Caswell and Lothrop Weld, of
New York, and Robort Burr, of Lau
rence, V. 'i.
At tho danco tonight thoro will bo nt
least ISO of the younger set. Tho Coxes
ro renowned for their hospitality, and
certainly they could not ' have a moro
charming background than tho beautiful
placo at Ponllyn, with Its wide, shaded
lawns. If It la very warm tonight somo
of tho dancing will toko placo outside.
Then they will ontortaln on Tuesday
night, too, at tholr annual affair to cele
brato tho Fourth, when thoy will keep
opon houso, havo n. display of fireworks
on tho lawn and danco also.
Another delightful affair which wilt bo
given tonight will bo tho buffet supper
and danco which Henry T. Prlco will glvo
out at Valley Farm, his homo In West
Chestor. His guests will also bo takon
from tho younger sot, though somo who
wero to go arc at presont at Mount Gretna.
I understand, However, thoro will bo
plenty of guests, as thoro aro a fow men
left, and now that things look brighter
on tho war question porhaps wo will bo
welcoming tho boom n -laddies homo again
soon. Lot us hopo so, anyhow. Bo that
as It may, among tho guests tonight will
be Nancy Dunning, Natalie Dallctt, Chris
tine Datlett, Helen Strawbrldgo, Kath
arine Strawbridgo, Dorothy Leonard,
Edith Watt. Among tho men who wero
Invited aro Ben Rush, Jr., who Is at
Mount Gretna; Latimer Coloman, John
Wynn, Andrew Gordon, Nod Gardiner,
Jack Newlln, Henry Dallott and Francis
Dallett.
I wonder If they finally met, and I sin
oerely hope they did, for when I last saw
her she was waiting at tho station for a
train; and tho only trouble about It all,
as she confided to mo was, that
was to havo called her up that morning
to tell her where to meet him In town for
lunch and ho had not In fact, sho had
not seen for several days and
was a bit doubtful ns to whether ho still
Intended to have that lunch party or had
entirely forgotten about It. Tho funny
part of It all was that sho decided to go
anyhow, even If she was not sure. The
wild goose chases theso young things go
on! Usually when one takes a train ono
knows whore ono Is going. In this case,
however, that was not to be. Town was
all sho knew, and town it was. Hero's
to hoping that tho young delinquent
turnod up somowhoro to meot her,
wherever It was, and that it all ended in a
delicious tete-a-tete. Sho looked awfully
cute In her new suit and' quite one of the
best looking hats I havo seen for many
a day, standing on tho platform of a
Reading station. I wondered if her digni
fied mother know that Bho was doing this
rather undignified thing would she havo
bean pleased? Somehow I doubt It.
NANCY WYNNE.
