ETBOTNa MDGBRPHtLADELPimk, TUESDAY, JtJttE 6, 1916. GY WYNNE IS INTERESTED IN FIRST DEBUTANTE AFFAIR GIVEN i - Philadelphia Country Club Will Present Beautiful Ap pearance This Evening for Large Dinner Dance to Be Given for Miss Huhn and Miss Denclda TWO of next season's pretty dobs wilt be given a dinner danco tonight ,at the Philadelphia Country Club, when Mr. Georgo A. Huhn will entertain for his daughter, Ethel Huhn, and Pauline Donokla, tho daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ilorman Denokla. Both girls are ox tremoly pretty, In decided contrast to each other. Ethel Is very fair and tall, with blue eyes and very lovely coloring, While Paulino Is darker, with dark hair, eyes and lashes. Her mother was Miss Edith Tyson, ono of tho five remarkably pretty Tyson sisters, and her daughters have certainly inherited tho family's good looks. Tonight's danco will bo attended by most of next year's buds, somo of Inst season's and tho younger dancing men. There will bo nbout 160 guests, and Mr. Huhn will receive with his daughter and Miss Donckla. Society Is looking forward to the out door performance of "Alda," to bo given tonight In Franklin Field. This will ba tho first tlmo that nn opera has been glvon In tho opon air !n this city, and with such artists as Marie Happold, Mar garothe Matzonauer and the others men tloned on tho posters which one sees In very direction It will surely be a. won ' derful performance. Among tho box holders will bo Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. Stotesuury, Mr. and Mrs. Georgo W. Chllds Drexel, Mr. and Mrs. William W. Curtln, Mr. and Mrs. Randal Morgan, Dr. nnd Mrs. .1. Norman (Henry, Judgo and Mrs. Dlmner Beelicr, Mr. Ellis A. Gimbol, Mrs. Louise Alter, Dr. J. How ard Austin, Mrs. Samuel G. Dixon. Dr. Edtjar F. Smith, Mr. T. Lewis Thomas, Mr. William D. Holme, Mr. C. A. Hlgbeo, Dr. Charles? J. Jone3, Mr. Honry A. Laughlln, Mrs. William Draper Lewis, Mr. Luthor D. Lovokln, Mr. E. Clarence Mlllor, Mr. William Potter, Mrs. J. R. Rebmnnn. It Is Interesting to note that so great was tho success of tho recent production of "Patience" by members' of tho Savoy Opera Company here, Wilmington, our nearby city, has not only Invited them to appear In tho opera houso thero, but has guaranteed their expenses nnd will entertain the entire company at dinner tonight at tho Hotol du Pont prior to the performance. I don't wonder they havo been asked to repeat it, for it was sin gularly well given. As for Frank Ward, Plantou Mlddleton and EIslo IBrinton. their acting was positively lnlmltablo. Ono night hero tho curtain rose and thero stood Elsie toying nor enormous cello and spoochlfylng to tiio nlr. Thon sho turned to run her bow across tho sound less strings, and, lo! behold, not a man lr- the orchestral And back of tho scenes was the man who forgot to notify tho orchestra to go out, running wildly about requesting somo one to kick him. But It did not faze Miss Brlnton nor Mr. Zeckwer. The latter walked leisurely to his place, followed by his orchostra, and Miss Brlnton remained at her post on tho stage, sadly sighing for her Reginald, and brought down tho house, for her voice is rich and beautiful and her depiction of Lady Jane was full of humor. Frank Ward was tho most lackadaisical love Jornlty It has over been my lot to see. He was a scream! And could ono Imitate Mr. Mlddleton's rondltlon of the poem on "Calomol" ho would ba a talented person! Tt was hard to pick any ono out spe cially, they were nil so good., I wonder If Frances West Bally Keen will return from her honeymoon In time to sing her port as ono of tho lovelorn maidens? Frances, you know, Just decided to have no further talk on tho subject as to when nnd how she should bo married, and bo went quietly off with the man of her choice and was' wedded and then let the families know. The women's nattonat tennis tourna ment week is here again, and amid purple sweaters, tennis racquets' nnd pretty women, play began yesterday afternoon at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Purple stockings and a purple parasol added an attractive touch.
