The Chertnut Hill Business Men'n Asso
ciation wns among? tho first associations 6t
like nature In Philadelphia to advocate, two
years ago, a safe and sane Fourth of Juty,
and In both 1914 and IBIS met with marked
success In their endeavors. It Is proposed
this year to perfect plans for a more elab
orate celebration than has been yet given In
Chestnut Mill.
Ths outline of the different events pro
posed Includes patrl6tto exercises on St.
Martin's Athletla Field with prominent
speakers In attendance, athletla sports of
varied sort, special entertainment for tho
smaller children of Chestnut Hill, a grand
hlstorlcar pageant In which a number of
floats will depict the important events In the
history of the United States, and nn elab
orate display of fireworks In the evening.
Two teams of 10 men each, all members
jf the association team No. 1, captained
by M Francis Brown, and team No. 2, by
Bter'Cn Aeer will make concerted effort
to a euro subscriptions from the citizens
of Chestnut Hill In order tq make tho cele
bration a great bucccbs. Tho team cap
tains have entered Into a friendly rivalry
and agreed between themselves that tho
team securing tho smallest total subscrip
tion shall buy Its opponent team a dinner.
About a, week ago a vaudevlllo perform
ance wis given in Joslyn Hall, German
town and Highland avenues, by tho asso
ciation for the benefit of the Fourth of
July fund, and a goodly sum as a nucleus
was realized.
The Entertainment Committee of the as
sociation, -which has the arrangements for
the celebration In charge, consists of Jo
seph P. Whito, who Is chairman; William J.
McCoenahan, Prlngle Borthwlck, Stephen
Ager, John Dcrtran, Jr., Christopher Hart,
McClellan Gray and John J. McCreo.
SEEK $100,000 FOR HOSPITAL
Northeastern'B Building: Campaign Will
Start Next Wednesday
First steps In a campaign to raise $100,
000 for tho Northeastern Hospital will bo
taken tonight, when a men's committee will
be organized and a chairman selected after
a dinner nt, the Adelphla. A new building
for the hospital Is the object of tho cam
paign, which will start next "Wednesday
and end Juno IB. Headquarters has been
established at 3216 Kensington avenuo.
On Monday nbout fifty women Interested
In tho hospital will meet at the Adelphla
