Methods Considered for Increasing
Strength of Subordinate Courts
At tho mooting; of Court Schuylkill, No.
108, last week, with P. O. C. n. Kirk pre
siding?, nn Interesting nnd profltabla dis
cussion was had of the plans proposed by
the Foresters' Fellowship Club for the bet
terment of the fraternity and tho placing
of tho order upon a permanently stable
basis for all time.
One proposed plan, which, tn addition to
tho suggested amalgamation of wqakcr
courts, met with much favor, wn,s, that by
legislation ench cou,rt should be compelled
to attain u net, momborshlp of ZOO and, a
treasury of not less than $2000'. This mem
bership Is to bo maintained and added to
yearly by a pet gain of at loast E per cent.
This standard maintained, each court could
In 20 years pay all death claims and ex
penses and still tme a balance ordinarily
thereafter ot $1880 for the benefit ot added
new members.
As all of tho former 200 mombers would not
bo deceased, their dues nnd Interest on nccumu
Uted. treasury would add materially to the .Sur
plus balance. '
Continuity and perpetuity ot fraternal exist
ence la dependent greatly upon constant addi
tion to membership as woll ns tho proper man
agement of tile body corporate.
A court which has had a successful career
ot 25 years and hag a substantial treasury,
but which has failed to udd new members, ac
cording to thosa who have carefully studied
fraternal Insurance, has acquired only a part
ot what Is needed to Insdro the payment of
death claims.
It cannot in another quarter of a century
securo the needed additional finances unless It
wakes up and secures new members to replace
tboso who Japso or die.
Court Nonpareil. No 183, baa the sole pos
