CHICAGO, May 21. After showing
strength for tho greater part of the session
tho wheat market today declined near tho
end. nnd final prices showed gains of from
a to Sic, or lic to 1-JJc under tho
highest.
Tho early advances wero brought about
by disappointing reports from Oklahoma,
wiiero hot wenthor caused damage, ns It
followed so closely after the recent dry spell,
nnd this brought about buying on a general
scaie, wnicn was led hy the Southwest.
Shorts also covered nnd stiffened tho mar
ket to some degree. The late recession was
caused by liquidation nnd profit-taking on
a fairly liberal scale. Traders gonorally
gavo considerable significance to reports
that Count von Buelow was to come to this
country In a special mission, which led to
comment as to the possibilities of early
pence moves.
Theso reports cxerclsod the greatest in
fluence In tho last hour's trading.
Corn dropped sharply In sympathy with
wheat. In this commodity the shorts cov
ered early, but the Ilnal tone was barely
steady, with some pressure from scattered
sources,
ln tho late part of tho scsslonvbgk mfwyp
After showing advnncos of c In tho
leading options, oats declined tc to lc.
In the lato part of tho session. There were
moro faovrabio advices from tho crop
country.
Tho report of tho Price Current Isued to
day, was considered bullish nt tlio time It
was received In the market. In addition
there wore numerous private reports of
damage, but all this was overshadowed by
the attention attracted to tho German sit
uation ln tho last hour.
Leading futures ranged as follows:

for a time.
At the end of the first 15 minutes ttiv
market was quite steady at 2 to 4 polnh.

The early rally carried prices about 4
to 8 points net higher, but the market
weakened, following the publication of tho
western belt forecast and prices eased to
about last night's dosing figures. Spbl
nouso brokers wero actlvo buyers of October
on a scale down, but there seemed to be a
renewal of moro or less general scattering
liquidation and local pressure. The selling
may have been based partly on the better
torecasts than some had expected.
The receipts of cotton at the ports for the
day were estimated at 15,000 bales, com
pared with 20,035 bales last week, .9735
pales last year and 13,759 bales ln 1914,
