way," has boon selected by the Phllopntrlan
players for their nnnual production nt the
South Broad Street Theatre during tho
week of Juno 5
Last year tho Phllopntrlans appeared In
"Get-Rlch-Qulck Vv'alllngford" and Mr
Cohan was so delighted with tho players
work that ho offered tho uso of tho comedy
farco that was tlrst played by Fay Temple
ton nnd Victor Mooro. Later Mr. Cohan
himself starred In tho plcco, along with
Salllo Fisher.
This la tho twonty-fourth year that tho
gifted amateur Thespians of tho Phllo
pntrlan Literary Institute havo undertaken
to produce a popular play. Every ear the
standnrd of work has Improved until now
tho Phllopntrlan plajers aro ranked among
tho first amateur organizations of tho coun
try. "Forty-flvo Minutes From Broadway" Is
described as a farco comedy with music.
Fow people havo forgotten "So Long Mary,"
"Mary Ib a Grand Old Namo" and tho lilt
ing topical song that takes Its name from
tho title. They aro among the most popular
songs Cohnn has ever written and many
Phlladelphlans will welcome a revival of tho
original settings. Tho same music and
dancing of the original cast will bo repro
duced ln every detail by tho well-trained
Phllopntrlan chorus,
Mr. James Sltclley will again manage and
direct tho production, as well as take a
prominent part In the show. It has been
largely duo to the untiring energy of this
vigorous actor-mannger-dlrector that Phtlo
patrlans have beon so successful and his
appearanco as a star In "comedy with
music" Is nwalted with Interest.
