Listen, my children, and you shall
hear of a tender talo wherein the devo
tlon of one nrdent lover for his lady
love Is shown true and blue. Be It
known that the ladylove In question,
though by no means fellno herself, hath
a great love for the soft and furry puss,
and has been known In-between flights
of literal y genius to drop with great
celerity to earth In order to pat the
"Puthles," so to speak. Well, said young
lover, being also a dutiful son, awoke In
the wee sma' hours one day last week,
and perceiving that It had grown cooler
In the night bethought himself, perhaps,
It were well to keep the furnace In and
thus pleaso his family. So, clad In an
evening suit of pale lavonder silk, ho
rose from his little bed and .descended
the cellar stairs in slippered feet. He
tended the furnace and turned to mount
the steps, when thero before his eyes
sat the most beautiful coal black
"Pythy" washing her face with dainty
nicety. Instantly young Lothario
thought of his ladylove. Here was a
pussy after her own heart, so clean and
imooth and satiny was she. So he made
a flying leap and snatched Pus3 up In
the middle of her ablutions. Upstairs ho
fled to put Miss Puss carefully In his
4-oom until he could convey' her to tho
home of his beloved. But, alas! tho talo
hath a sad ending. As he reached the
top step a voice accosted him: "Who" yo
all doln' wlf ma cat? Doan you tech
dit cat; she's mine. I done briing her
trlf mo to keep her fum glttln' lost."
Thero stood the wash lady, with horror
written upon her countenance, and
dashed were his fond hopes. Novor
mind, I hear she is going to havo one,
anyhow, so there was no harm done
after all. NANCY WYNNE.

suffragist to make the trip It Is hoped
that enough women will go to make It
feasible to chatter a private car leaving

arrangement not be made, it will cost each
suffragist, according to Mrs. Ferreo Brln
ton, leader of the Woman Suffrage party,
