Manufacturers HaVo Plenty of Or

General Increase In virtually all kinds
of business In Philadelphia are Indicated
by tho weekly reports d r. a. pun A Co,
with plenty of xrorkjK the mills to keep
them busy for months to come. The labor
market has proved a handicap to many
lines of manufacturing, howeier, and be
cause of tho demand for workmen the
prices arc high. BultdlnK Is fair, but the
high prices of material havo prevented ex
tensive operations which had been con
llmplated. Conditions In the cotton and cotton yarn
trade still remain good, with an Increas
ing demand. Notwithstanding tho shortage
In dyestuffs, thero Is a heavy demand for
cotton yarns, especially combed peelers
During tho last two weeks there has
been a fair demand for wbol, but not as
active as heretofore. Thero Is plenty of
business, It appears, to keep the mills
running full tlmo nnd nn active mnrkct
Is looked for for months to come.
Manufacturers of cloaki and nults Btato
thero hns been more activity during tho
last week, Shirtwaist nnd dresa-manufne-turern
aro running their plants ITOhe full
est capacity. They continue to be handi
capped, houeier, owing to their Inability
to get competent Inbor.
