Course for High Schools of
City Today
Prominent men of Philadelphia have
tlgned a cat! to public-spirited cltlstens .to
attend a conference today relative to the
incorporation of a system of military
training In local high schools, and for the
discussion of other educational matters of
great, Importance to the youth of the city.
The conference xi III bo held at the Belle-iue-Stratford
Hotel nt 3130 o'clock In the
afternoon.
Hundreds of Influential men of this city
have been Invited and are expected to
attend. The greatest stress will be laid
nt the conference on the ndvnntages of
military training In high schools. It Is
believed by the men backing the move
ment that there Is no better wny to Incul
cate In the minds of the youth of the land
a spirit of patriotism and n recognition of
the responsibilities of tho Individual than
by a carefully considered course In mili
tary sclcnco in conjunction with rational
physical and Intcirectual training. It Is
proposed to Introduce a system of Instruc
tion In calisthenics, military formation and
drill and lectures on the duties of citizen
ship Into high schools.
